Untitled
[From Adlai Stevenson, Call to Greatness, 1954]
In youth
everything
seems possible.
Then you reach
a point
in the middle years
when you realize
that you are
never going to reach
all the shining goals
you set for yourself.
In the end
reconcile yourself
with what grace you can
to living with
your hot flashes
your arthritis
your sense of partial failure
and even your
less-than-ideal family.
